It was a BIG weekend for littleRoom when it came to box office predictions! littleRoom was the undisputed winner for the August 9-11 weekend, winning the overall frame and placing in the top 3 for three of the four new titles. Nice job!
Meanwhile, there were changes atop the year’s overall leaderboard as Daniel Prinn from http://filmcraziest.wordpress.com/ moved into first place and yours truly, Todd Thatcher from http://toddmthatcher.wordpress.com/ vaulted into second. Daniel is ahead of myself by a mere $500,000! This is shaping up to be a real race. Joe Giuliano from http://twodudereview.net/ is in third at press time.
As previously mentioned, there were four new titles to predict last weekend and we have four new ones to get to this weekend. littleRoom was tops and was $17.4 million off total. Jason Rugaard from http://moviemavericks.com/ took silver ($18.5M off) and I was third ($19M off). It was Movie Maverick Jason with the best result for Elysium (only $157K off!). littleRoom placed second (only $316K away) and Squasher88 from http://www.film-actually.com/was third ($1.6M off). We’re the Millers exceeded everyone’s expectations except for zwackerm who easily won by being $1.9 million off, with Shane from http://cinekatz.com/ second ($7.6 off) and littleRoom third ($8.1M off). For Disney’s Planes, rappalittle from http://rappsmovienewsandreviews.blogspot.com/ cruised to first ($267K off) while Brendan from http://boxofficefrontier.com/ was second ($767K off) and littleRoom in third ($832K). It was me (!), Todd Thatcher, taking the gold for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. I was $1.3M off, ahead of second place Joe Giuliano ($1.7M off) and third place Kim Jung Ull ($1.9M).
And now… to the four new films you can still predict right here on Box Office Ace. Here are the current averages:
Kick-Ass 2: $22.3 million from 17 predictions
Lee Daniels’ The Butler: $17.7 million from 12 predictions
